Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) is a procedure that is used to temporarily occlude large blood vessels and a tool in the broader Endovascular Resuscitation and Trauma Management (EVTM) concept.

REBOA is mainly used in patients with non-compressible torso hemorrhage to help maintain blood flow to the brain and heart, and buy time to get patients to the operating room for definitive surgical management.

The COBRA-OS® is a REBOA (Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta) device. It is also the world’s smallest REBOA device available and does not require an over-the-wire technique.

Every COBRA-OS® comes with a 4 Fr Access Kit and 10 cc syringe for convenience.

The COBRA-OS® has been uniquely designed with a 4Fr profile and is the smallest REBOA device available.

Having a smaller profile allows for quicker arterial access because there is no need to upsize an initial sheath. This sheath takes up less room in the arterial lumen and therefore is less obstructive to flow past the sheath.

When the sheath needs to be removed after definitive control has been achieved, a smaller hole being left in the artery is advantageous to help with hemostasis in often coagulopathic, critically ill patients.

The COBRA-OS® is indicated for temporary large vessel occlusion.

Currently, REBOA is predominantly used in emergency trauma situations for patients with non-compressible torso hemorrhage but there is also growing use of REBOA in other patients, including those experiencing non-traumatic cardiac arrest or post-partum hemorrhage.

REBOA is mainly used in hospital and military settings but is also increasingly being used in pre-hospital environments.

Currently, the COBRA-OS® is available in Canada and the US with both Health Canada approval and FDA Clearance.
